PRACTICAL FIELD NOTES / 18 OCTOBER 2026

Privacy and contact preferences

What Fieldwork collects through newsletter requests, submissions and sponsor enquiries.

Data you choose to supply

A newsletter request stores your email address, optional industry, consent time and version, and subscription status. Confirmation and unsubscribe credentials are stored as hashes. An enquiry stores the contact details, website, message and enquiry type you submit so the operator can review and reply to it.

Do not submit customer records, tax documents, health information or other sensitive business material through these forms. A listing submission needs a public source link, not private source files.

How the information is used

Newsletter requests are used for the Fieldwork publication you agree to receive. While delivery is being configured, the form identifies itself as a launch list; storing a request does not claim an active confirmed subscription. When confirmation email is enabled, a person must confirm before being included in an active newsletter send.

Sponsor or correction enquiries are kept separate from newsletter consent. Sending an enquiry does not subscribe you to marketing.

Storage and service providers

Forms use the website’s hosted database through Sites and Cloudflare. When an approved sending provider is configured, newsletter email details are processed by that provider for confirmation and delivery. Fieldwork does not claim Australian-only data storage.

Browser bookmarks stay in local storage on your device. A clear/reset browser action can remove them; they do not sync to an account. The directory does not install a third-party advertising tracker or analytics cookie in this edition.

Your choices

Newsletter emails include an unsubscribe route. You can also use the contact form to request access, correction, withdrawal or deletion of submitted details; identify the request without sending extra sensitive information. We retain only the records needed to operate the publication, handle enquiries and honour suppression preferences, and review stale launch requests.

Abuse controls use time-limited hashed request buckets. They do not publish your email or enquiry in the directory.
